The KZN Branch of SAIMechE invites you to attend a technical evening at UKZN

Topic: Design Technologies & Advances in Additive Manufacturing

Discover if Additive Manufacturing is going to disrupt your business model!

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a process of making three dimensional solid objects by laying down successive layers. There are many different additive manufacturing technologies, like stereolithography, selective laser sintering  or fused deposit modeling, etc. Unlike material removed from a stock in the conventional machining process, 3D printing or AM builds a three-dimensional object from Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models. This technical talk will provide engineers with an overview of current  AM technologies and will address the subject of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM or DFAM). AM technologies have advanced beyond the domain of rapid prototyping and into mainstream industrial applications.  Industrial case studies will be presented, inducing a case from Adept Airmotive.

The technical talk will be delivered by Bryan Bullock (General Manager at Rapid 3D),  Clive de Lange (Business Development Manager at Modena) and the team from Adept Airmotive .

Date: Monday, 19 March 2018
Time: 18h00 for 18h30
Place: University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Howard College Campus, Mech Eng Bldg
The presentation will be followed by refreshments.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain new knowledge, network and develop your business connections. Members registered with ECSA are eligible to claim 0.1 CPD points for attending a SAIMechE technical talk
