Student Chapters: UJ Hydrogen Innovation Society

[Homepage welcome message]

The UJ Hydrogen Innovation Society is an engineering society based at the University of Johannesburg that aims to promote research, education at tertiary levels, and industry involvement within the fields of alternative and renewable energy.

The UJ Hydrogen Innovation Society was formally established in 2016 by a team which had participated in a renewable energy project focusing on the design and construction of solar vehicles. In 2017 the society participated in in the prototype hydrogen category of the Shell Eco Marathon South Africa, achieving first place. This was a defining accomplishment for the young team, with many more to come.

The UJ Hydrogen Innovation Society aims to conduct research on the production, implementation, storage, and sustainability of hydrogen. The society also engages in dynamic projects to further increase awareness in the applications and benefits of hydrogen and renewable energy technologies across multiple disciplines. The society aims to create an environment that fosters industry collaboration, bringing researchers, industry professionals and students together. Presented here is a brief history of the organisation, its objectives, and future goals.
