Mr Neal Froneman, former CEO of Sibanye-Stillwater, is a distinguished South African engineer and business leader.  He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Mr Froneman, with over 35 years in mining and engineering, recently retired from his role as CEO of Sibanye-Stillwater, which he led for 12 years from its inception as a purely South African gold producer in 2013. Under his leadership, Sibanye-Stillwater grew and evolved, becoming a prominent diversified global mining company, recognized for its innovation and commitment to sustainability and shared value for all stakeholders.

Returning to his alma mater, he brings practical insights from a career that bridges engineering, innovation, and executive leadership in high-impact, resource-intensive industries. His vision continues to evolve beyond mining. His next chapter builds on his legacy of combining large-scale engineering ambition with long-term value creation. This represents a forward-looking blueprint for how engineering leadership can shape new sectors, stimulate regional economies and deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects that inspire future generations.
