SAIMechE Western Cape, in association with our local engineering faculties is once again presenting their annual conference on Postgraduate Research in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Energy and Biomedical Engineering. The conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for our local postgraduate students to showcase their current research and interesting technological developments in topics related to the broad field of mechanical engineering.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

All authors will be requested to upload an extended abstract in PDF format by using this link by 26 September 2025. Extended abstracts should be submitted for both oral presentations and posters.

Brief for the extended abstract

• Please follow the format set out in the Extended Abstract Template. Links to the template can be on Word doc

• The first page should include the title of the presentation, the name/s, affiliation and address of the authors (this should include your postgraduate supervisor), underlined the name of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.

• An extended abstract is a “mini-paper” and should have the following information:

o Describe the aim of the work. o Provide a brief introduction sufficient to orientate the non-specialist reader. o A brief description of the methodology or experimental techniques employed. o A discussion of the results.

Notice of revision/acceptance will be sent to authors by 10 October 2025.The extended abstracts will be available to all delegates at the conference.
